Maroy Foundation signs back to back MOUs laying the ground for brand new state-of-the-art hospital

South Kivu, Thursday 18th December 2023 - Maroy Foundation Hospital, under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Faraja Migabo, concluded business with The Honourable Kinja Mwendanga Béatrice, Minister of Health for South Kivu, setting the parameters and framework for Maroy Foundation Hospital's new construction project.

It was acknowledged that the provincial healthcare ecosystem faces significant challenges which are often compounded by external factors such as inadequate infrastructure and power supply. Recognising the strides made in recent years through national government-led initiatives, Maroy Foundation Hospital remains committed to complementing these efforts for enhanced healthcare delivery.

In the wake of the devastating fire that engulfed Maroy Foundation Hospital and 21 other buildings on Avenue Chibera in March 2023, causing a total loss of USD 1M, efforts focused immediately on supporting the local community, in addition to a steadfast pledge to rebuild stronger than before.

Maroy Foundation is pleased to announce the execution of two back-to-back Memorandum of Understandings with both the South Kivu Ministry of Health in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and our partners in the United States Build Health International for the construction of a brand new, modern, state-of-the-art hospital in Bagira, South Kivu, slated to break ground Q425.

The new site will house the Centre d'Excellence Kanza-Blouin en Santé Maternelle et de l'Enfant, preserving the hospital's reputation and expertise in maternal, newborn, and child health. Concurrently, the hospital is expanding its services and introducing an employee health benefit programme for local businesses, which represents the culmination of four years of meticulous planning.

The new site underscores a commitment to efficiency and quality healthcare delivery, with a focus on integrating health and wellbeing considerations into both construction and long-term operations. Central to this model is the prioritisation of patient experience and workforce quality of life.
